The Challenge
I love learning about a lot of things.
Much of what I have focused my time on involves technology and getting a broad view of multiple subjects.
I’m reasonably good at a few, and others I know enough to understand.
Enough to be dangerous.
Let me explain…
Considerations
When you know a little about a lot, you have difficulty being the expert on a single subject.
That is not to say you can’t assist others in learning what you know.
However, you may not become the primary authority on the subject.
One of my coaches suggested half-jokingly…
You only need a fourth-grade education to teach the third-grade.
We know that is not accurate, and we can still use the example to illustrate the idea of being able to teach something to anyone who knows less than you do.
Simple and true.
Here’s the challenge we face.
Not knowing what we know and allowing ourselves we know enough to share it with others.
